IIBF CODE OF CONDUCT
The IIBF Code of Conduct
is the value and character that each IIBF member must have and apply in order to increase
the quality of those who want their present day, as well as their future, to be better than yesterday. The IIBF Code of Conduct consists of 5 ethics that have to be an identity for those who want to ascent (al-'Aqabah).
And only through the
ascent they will achieve genuineness no matter how rocky and
prickly their journey might be. This can only be done by those who want a quality improvement. No matter how often someone pours water into a cup, the volume will never be more than it is
until
one enhances
the cup.
These 5 codes
of conduct are as follow:
1. Al-Hirshu 'alat ta'allum
(Always Learn)
The first revelation
given to Prophet Muhammad, peace
and blessings
be upon him, is the order to read which is related to God Almighty
as The Creator.
This shows that reading or learning
is a must for Muslims. Every Muslim is taught to read, stars
from
the qauliyah
verses to the kauniyah ones, from the micro ones to
the macro ones.
There is no limit in learning for a Muslim, either from
the
subjective or objective side,
nor from the time and space side, and the end of the learning time
is when it reaches the end of
one's life (Long Life Education). Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
"Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim."
Learning is a way for a Muslim to increase his standard because then he realizes that
Allah will elevate the degree of those who have piety and knowledge. Allah Almighty reminds
humans in his Qur'an: "Is he who
payeth adoration in the watches of
the
night, prostrate and standing, bewaring of
the Hereafter
and hoping for
the mercy of his Lord, (to be accounted equal with
a disbeliever)? Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Are those who know equal
with
those who know not? But only men of understanding will pay heed." (az- Zumar : 9)
Our ancestors were
able to get ahold of the time
they lived
in because
they knew the true spirit of
Islam that demands
us to read and keep reading,
and they were the people who were so thirsty in gaining knowledge and would embark on their journeys in getting it and eventually practiced it. The world's scholars
then
were dominated by Muslims,
starting from al-Kindi, ar-Razi, al-Biruni,
Ibn Sina (Avicenna), al-Khwarizmi, Ibn
Haitham, Ibn an-Nafis among many
others. Not to mention in the tafseer (commentary), hadith, fiqh, and language sciences
we will find monumental Muslim scholar figures who had colored the world
with
civilization and refinement.
Abu Darda, may Allah be pleased with
him, narrated that Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said that:
"Whoever travels on
a path
in search of knowledge, Allah will enable him to travel on a path to Paradise.
And verily, the angels
spread their wings with pleasure for one
who seeks knowledge." (Abu Dawood and at-Tirmidhi)
Anas, may Allah be
pleased with him, narrated
that
Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said that: "Whosoever
goes out their home to
gain knowledge then he is walking on the path of Allah until he returns
home." (At-Tirmidhi)
Learning doesn't
see one's
age, thus learn from anyone
through anything;
read books, attend halaqas, join various
workshops, as those who are more knowledgeable, that's what
we called learning.
Learn with sincerity
and an open mind,
reread your books,
rejoin workshops, re-attend halaqas as there's always something new
every time we review matters. Repetition is the mother of learning!
